We invite you into the mycelial network in helping to bring the message of Fantastic Fungi into the world! Here’s what we’re working on, and we’d be happy to share more information if you are interested.
We’ve got a big vision, and need support and partnership to make it all possible. Together we can make it happen!
In true mycelium style we are connecting with educators and mycologists including Paul Stamets to build an innovative curriculum that integrates the core topics from the film along with current scientific initiatives into the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) directives as well as SEL (Social Emotional Learning) initiatives and is mapped to State teaching standards. Imagine classrooms around this country exploring, connecting and collaborating through a 60 minute version of this film especially created for Middle Schools and High Schools with the ability to access additional online learning. We want to make it broadly available, including connecting kids with nature by providing grow kits in each classroom to bring the learning to life.
Most of us know someone who is personally struggling with clinical depression, addiction, anxiety, and/or PTSD. We’re at a critical moment in the world, with the rise of suicide as one of the leading causes of death in the US. The use of psilocybin in the treatment of some of the most challenging mental health issues is extremely promising and therefore imperative. With that motivation, we are creating a medical/therapeutic version that will be used to educate and dispel misinformation that was propagated in past years. This medical version will be supplemented by facilitation guides and online resources, and will be available as a tool to create conversations, awareness, education and connection within the medical and therapeutic communities.
Many people – from environmentalists, beekeepers, foodies, innovators, technologists, teachers, doctors, governmental leaders, parents, artists, musicians, indigenous and more – understand the need to create and support a new way of living. Community organized events and screenings that facilitate conversations are a powerful way to build community and support the education around the film. We will build a home viewing/gathering initiative that utilizes the film as well as a facilitation guide to explore the key concepts in the film. We will work with community leaders and creatives of all kinds including top chefs, artists and musicians to develop experiences that integrate food, fun, conversations, inspiration and hope – whether hosted in someone’s home or community center.
