Who We Are

Reconsider tackles pressing individual and societal challenges with a focus on possibilities. By sparking curiosity and examining core narratives, we empower visionary leaders (within all of us) to reimagine and co-create vibrant futures through creativity and collaboration.

Reconsider is a 501(c)3 nonprofit media and workshop organization dedicated to fostering innovation, creativity, responsibility, and community to create a more connected and harmonious world.

You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the
existing model obsolete.

– Buckminster Fuller

Humanity is at an inflection point: a proverbial line in the sand

What will we choose?

The Farm

A Sanctuary To COME Home

Much of our work takes place at Reconsider’s home, a center of transformation and learning, a community situated in the Hudson Valley, New York. With over 62 acres of beauty and calm, surrounded by 30,000 acres of state forest, its atmosphere of peace and tranquility makes it the perfect place to retreat, converse, listen, share and belong.

We acknowledge the land on which we sit as the original homeland of the Lenape people and many other people before them. We recognize that land really only belongs to nature and also the painful history of forced removal and genocide of people from this territory and around the world. We honor the Lenape and others and pay our respects by envisioning a new way of living with all beings.

Laurie Kowalevsky

Laurie Kowalevsky

Director of Strategy and Development

Read bio

Laurie grew up believing that ANYTHING was possible.  You just had to believe it and create it.  She wanted to be Jane Pauley so she studied broadcast journalism at Indiana University, but a business minor and a nudge from her dad put her on a path to a three-decade career in marketing & advertising.

A community member of Reconsider since 2022 and recently retired, Laurie officially joined the Reconsider team in 2025 because once you know, you cannot not know.  So, here she is.

A humanitarian at heart, Laurie is most proud of the work she has done to advocate for gender equity, reproductive rights, and the unmet needs of patients within a broken healthcare system.  If you want to talk about the other stuff you put on resumes, you can ask her another time.  But she does have a knack (and a bit of a track record) for strategy, team building and mentorship.

Laurie firmly believes our next generation holds the key to reimagining and creating a better future. She’s here to be in-service to allow and support them and their work (and this all comes with a bit of bias as Grace and Gus’s mom, of course).
